Client: Brunelcare, care home photography
When Brunelcare approached me a couple of years ago to take some images for a new website and corporate brand they were building, I was extremely flattered. Photographing older people in care can be a sensitive environment to walk into with a camera. People can feel vulnerable and be confused. For them to trust me was a huge compliment.
During the last couple of years I’ve visited many of their sites in and around Bristol and the brief is always the same – capture images that show the work they do, the people they look after and the staff who work there in a positive, natural and caring way.
I can’t claim this has been a more challenging job than others. The staff are always upbeat and keen to get involved, and the people they look after have been brilliant. As you can see in these images, the work was not just restricted to care homes. Some people are cared for at home, others just need a little help to get them back to an independent life again.
Brunelcare has been running since 1941 and I hope my images have shown the essential work this charity has done over 77 years.
